Our first Small Wonders Kit is now available!
These are truly a gift for the weary parent - trust me, I just tried it out tonight in the 4pm hour (aka, hour of terrible, horrible, no good, very bad everything) and was able to help my older daughter with a few math problems while also playing with the wee tyke. But, let me be VERY clear...this sort of family experience is due far more to my intention to set the time aside to be present - not about the shiny new things. I think these kits are more about setting aside time to put the jar of small wonders on the table and be open to following your child where they lead you. We could put sticks, and leaves and cheerios and grab legos from the toy box and pasta from the pantry and do this too.
Sometimes we are too weary to build the bridges toward our kids. In these times...shiny kits can be helpful.
Here is THE best thing about this whole experience - just being with Naomi. Like, really watching her do her thing. Learning about her as she is today. I didn't know she loved zebras. I didn't know she would think to glue the puffs in the way she did. I didn't know how much she probably needed this time of a little bit of structure, a whole lot of Mama focus and to sit working side by side with her big Sis.
This is the gift of play.
